Week Eight Power Rankings

1. (Last Ranking: 3) LSU
LSU made the defending national champion look like a FCS team with a 45-10 win over Auburn.

2. (2) Alabama
Alabama's next game is against LSU.

3. (4) Stanford
Stanford breezed by Washington and their prolific offense. If anyone is going to stop Stanford from making it to the BCS Championship Game USC,who hosts the Cardinal this Saturday, probably has the second best shot (after Oregon).

4. (6) Clemson
The Tigers beat UNC by 21 and the game was not as close as the score.

5. (8) Oklahoma State
The Cowboys keep passing test after test. At this point, they have to be the Big 12 favorite.

6. (7) Orgon
Oregon not only has outrageous talent, they also have tremendous depth.

7. (9) Boise State
Kellen Moore is a stud.

8.(1) Oklahoma
The Sooners were outgunned by Texas Tech. Next up... undefeated Kansas State.

9. (10) Virginia Tech
The Hokies were down at halftime against BC but they figured it out offensively in the second half and cruised to a route. An 11-1 record is there for the Hokies taking.

10. (15) Michigan State
The Spartans defense neutralized Wisconsin's offense (to a degree) and Kirk Cousins channeled his inner Doug Flutie as Michigan State used a miraculous Hail Mary pass that was momentarily knocked down and then reviewed to sink Wisky.

11. (5) Wisconsin
With the loss to Michigan State, the Badgers will shift their focus from the national title to a league title.

12. (11) Arkansas
Arkansas did not play well against Ole Miss, but managed to eek out a win.

13. (14) Nebraska
The Cornhuskers will host the red-hot Spartans, who are coming off wins against Michigan and Wisconsin this weekend.

14. (16) Michigan
The Wolverines should finish at least 10-2.

15. (17) Arizona State
The Sun Devils have only one game remaining against a team currently holding a winning record: they will face Cal at home on November 25th.

16. (Not Ranked) USC
The Trojans a re 6-1 with the one loss against Arizona State and are coming off a win against Notre Dame. With the home field advantage, I think they are capable of giving Stanford a run for their money this weekend.

17. (19) Penn State
The Nittany Lions are 7-1. They will host a struggling Illinois team this week.

18. (18) Cincinnati
The Bearcats pulled out a close victory over USF, 37-34.

19. (24) Kansas State

The Wildcats blewout Kansas as expected and their two best wins (over Miami and Texas Tech) are both looking a lot better at the moment. Now they face a vicious four game stretch starting with Oklahoma.

20. (22) South Carolina
The Gamecocks will head to Tennessee this weekend.

21. (21) Houston
Keenum and the Cougars dropped 63 on Marshall.

22. (25)  Texas A&M
The Aggies are on a nice three game run (wins over Texas Tech, Baylor, and Iowa State).

23. (13) Auburn
Auburn had no answers for LSU

24. (NR) Syracuse
Few of the Orange five wins have been pretty, but their 49-23 romp over West Virginia at the dome certainly was.

25. (NR) Miami
While only 4-3, the Hurricanes boast blowout wins over Georgia Tech and Ohio State and their losses against Virginia Tech and K-State were both very close.

Dropped Out: West Virginia, Illinois, and Georgia Tech
Just Missed The Cut: Georgia, Florida State, and Iowa
